The Swaziland Community Multimedia Network



The Swaziland Community Radio Network (SCRN) is an as- sociation of representatives of community radio initiatives in Swaziland. It is aimed at advancing the concept of com- munity radio in Swaziland, with the view of promoting its key role in information and knowledge sharing /exchange for the enhancement of community development.

The Interim Committee for this Network was elected into office in May 2013. It is composed of representatives of existing and soon-to-be established local community radios: Lubombo, Matsanjeni, Ngwempisi, Voice of the Church (VOC), Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church, and the University of Swaziland (UNISWA).

The overall mission of the Swaziland Community Radio Network (SCRN) is to steer the activities of community radios in Swaziland, including their promotion, licensing, training and technical support. The Network’s objectives are to: Promote the usefulness of community radio as a development tool in Swaziland; Support community radio initiatives in their application for licensing for themselves and the entire community radio sector in Swaziland; Facilitate the provision of the relevant tools, skills, knowledge and technical support for the community radio sector, and; Lobby relevant stakeholders, particularly Government, for the establishment of a conducive legislative frame- work for the community radio sector in Swaziland.
